When life’s challenges become overwhelming, whether through loss, trauma, or pain that feels too heavy to carry alone, we can feel lost, hopeless, confused, or unsafe. Not knowing where to turn can leave us disconnected or overwhelmed, making it hard to understand how we feel or why we feel that way. This is often a signal of unmet needs such as the need for safety, rest, support, connection, or meaning. Confronting these unmet needs can be difficult, but I believe that our needs are worthy of our attention. In my work, I encourage clients to view their needs and experiences compassionately.
In my work with individuals, I take an integrative approach, aiming to help clients see their challenges and needs with clarity, agency, and compassion. I can help you develop tangible, achievable goals, and I will make sure that our work together is in service of those goals. When starting with new clients, I focus on day-to-day wellbeing and can offer support developing healthy coping skills for whatever challenges you are facing. I want to make sure that you have the best support possible in navigating your day-to-day life. From there, I can support you through the process of unpacking underlying issues that may be hindering the changes you desire, drawing on evidence-based approaches like CBT and attachment-based therapy.
As a Let’s Connect facilitator, I also love working with parents and families to improve family function and increase positive family interactions. To do this, we utilize an evidenced based modality that first focuses on parents’ emotional awareness and wellbeing. Then we build up a range of parenting and family connection skills. We start with a strong foundation in connection, then add in child-focused skills around emotional support, how to cope with challenging emotions, behavioral problem solving, communication coaching, and guiding and supporting your children’s emotional development.
As a therapist, my orienting goal is to help my clients envision and enact a new story for themselves and their families in which they are thriving and connected to supportive relationships and community. My clients leave our work together feeling more attuned to their own needs, more confident in their ability to get their needs met in healthy ways, and capable of seeking and receiving support as they navigate life’s challenges moving forward.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.
